✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Organizational socialization can be viewed from the perspective of institutional theory, and institutional theory plays a key role in helping organizations achieve their missions. This article applies a framework to suggest that socialization can be interpreted as a symbolic response to societal expectations. Research propositions are presented that can be used to guide future research on the role of socialization.
