β¦ Synopsis
&s orbital justific&ion is proposed for the use of the Hcisenberg-Dixac-van Vfeck WDVV) modci to interpret the magnetic properties of linear chains ofnntiferromagnetically coupled spin doublets. The absolute value of the exchange interaction parameter J of the HDVV model is found to be equal to the product of the width of the energy band built from tit* magnetic orbit& and the ovcrl;zp mtcgral between magnetic orbit& centered on nearest-ncighbour ions.
