Seventy-nine patients presented to the pigmented lesion clinic between 1983 and 1996 with labial melanotic macules. We have followed up these patients for up to 13 years and 3 months (mean 6 years, 3 months). We present evidence that this is a benign entity. The appropriate management is reassurance
