โœฆ Synopsis

The Oral and Written Language Scales (OWLS) is an individually administered measure of oral language achievement of children, adolescents, and young adults aged 3 through 21. Also, the written language achievement level of individuals aged 5 through 21 may be obtained. This section of the scales may be administered either individually or in small groups.

Standard scores are obtained for Listening Comprehension, Oral Expression, and Written Expression. An Oral Language Composite reflects the combination of the Listening Comprehension and Oral Expression Standard Scores. Results for the entire test yield a Language Composite Standard Score. Results may be expressed as age-based standard scores, percentiles, normal curve equivalents, stanines, or age equivalents. Also, on the Written Expression Scale, scores may be expressed as grade-based standard scores or grade-equivalents. Both fall and spring norms are provided for the Written Expression Scale.
