Abstract
In wavelength division multiplexing networks it is necessary to buffer incoming packets to resolve the contentions in any network node. We optimized the performance of an all‐optical ring‐laser gain‐clamped erbium‐doped fiber amplifier working in a delay line to store packets for a time as long as 2 ms with power penalty as small as 0.3 dB. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
