✦ Synopsis

The finite difference time domain method is applied for the analysis of coupled microstrip lines with multiple right angle bends. The uniaxial perfectly matched layer (UPML) boundary condition is used to absorb outward waves. The UPML parameters are optimized to obtain absorption of both propagating and evanescent waves. It is also shown that this optimization increases the cutoff time and makes it possible to simulate the structures for a larger number of time steps.
