Abstract
On the basis of several empirical relations between a property (mostly connected with the presence of some point defects) on the one hand and the radii ratio (p~j~) of the lattice ions and interionic distance (c~j~) on the other, it is possible to raise the accuracy of Tosi‐Fumi ionic radii values. Pertinent calculations are performed for nine alkali halides (chlorides, bromides, and iodides of sodium, potassium, and rubidium). Using above empirical relations in which accurate c~j~ and p~j~ values (the latter obtained in this work) are introduced, in most instances a very good agreement is ascertained between calculated and experimental values related with appropriate properties.
