Abstract
A planar diamond antenna is optimized for UWB wireless communications. The optimal design guarantees a flat |S~21~| response over the UWB band for a corresponding transmitting/receiving antenna system. By revealing the reasons underlying an uneven |S~21~| response, this paper presents an approach for optimal design. In addition, the antenna performances for both single‐band and multiband schemes are also investigated. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
