โœฆ Synopsis

This paper describes the use of genetic algorithms to optimize the design and performance of hydrocyclones. Hydrocyclones are simple mechanical devices that use centrifugal forces to separate materials by density or size. Here, a genetic algorithm is used to accomplish two speciยฎc tasks. First, it is used to tune a fuzzy logic-based computer model of a hydrocyclone. The extensibility of the model is tested by simulating the performance of a hydrocyclone circuit. Second, the fuzzy model is incorporated into an objective function used to drive a separate genetic algorithm seeking to optimize hydrocyclone circuit performance. Results indicate that the genetic algorithm is eective in both modeling hydrocyclones and hydrocyclone circuits, and subsequently in optimizing the performance of a hydrocyclone circuit.

## Abstract We present a novel approach for optimizing reservoir operation through fuzzy programming and a hybrid evolution algorithm, i.e. genetic algorithm (GA) with simulated annealing (SA). In the analysis, objectives and constraints of reservoir operation are transformed by fuzzy programming f

In this paper, genetic algorithms are applied for optimization of dimensions of cold-formed steel trapezoidal sheeting. The objective of the optimization is to obtain the minimum weight subjected to the given constraints in accordance with Eurocode 3, Part 1.3. In traditional optimization, these con

In this paper, a closed-loop fuzzy logic controller based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed for controlling the power level of nuclear research reactors. The principle of the fuzzy logic controller is based on the rules constructed from numerical experiments made by means of a
