✦ Synopsis

We present a theoretical analysis and experimental results for the most suitable configuration of pump power in a two-stage erbium-dopedfiber amplifier. The amplifiers are arranged in a copropagating pump scheme and use large signal input and modest pump power. Experimental results are in good agreemeni with theoretical predictions.
