β¦ Synopsis
A simple equation for the optimal shape of catalyst loading along the oxygen channel of a PEM fuel cell is derived. This shape g(z; ) is a one-parametric, independent of cell current function of the distance z along the channel; is the stoichiometry of the oxygen flow. Optimal g homogenizes local cell current not affecting the cell polarization curve.

Previous studies have shown experimentally that the current density in a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell can be significantly higher under the land than under the channel in most practical operating cell voltage ranges [14]. In order to determine if the difference in electrical resistances
For proton exchange membrane fuel cell systems (PEMFC) integrated with fuel processors, the calorific value of reformate gases produced during the start-up phase must be recovered. An appropriate exhaust after treatment system has crucial importance for PEMFC systems. Catalytic combustion is a promi
This paper integrates the hydrogen production and utilization strategies with an economic model of a PEM fuel cell power plant (FCPP). The model includes the operational cost, thermal recovery, power trade with the local grid, and hydrogen management strategies. The model is used to determine the o
