β¦ Synopsis
The optimal temperature policy for reactors involving first-order consecutive reversible reactions has been studied and it is shown that the notion of optimum envelope provides a basis for analysing such a situation. Computed results of the typical cases are given and their significance examined. Finally, the relation between local and overall optimal policies in a sequence of stirred tank reactors is discussed.
