✦ Synopsis

In this paper, ecient graph theoretical methods are presented for optimal plastic analysis and design of frames using the force method. A linear programming formulation is made, employing subminimal cycle bases of the graph models leading to sparse self-stress matrices. These matrices are employed for the formation of constraints. The computational results for some examples are included to illustrate the capability and eciency of the developed methods.

The aim of this paper is to develop a structural optimization algorithm based on optimality criterion approach to achieve a minimum weight structure that satisfies a set of displacement constraints. Optimal designs are found considering both linear and non-linear behaviour of the structure and compa
