โฆ Synopsis
The problem of optimal design of unifornl non-homogeneous beams undergoing transverse vibrations is investigated. The optimal longitudinal modulus distribution is sought to produce the maximum value of fundamental frequency for a beam of given mass and geometry. Governing equations are obtained by using an optimal control theory approach. Solutions are presented for hinged-hinged, frce-clamped, clamped-clamped and clamped-hinged end-conditions.
