## Abstract Optimal design under unknown information is a key task in process systems engineering. This study considers formulations that incorporate two types of unknown input parameters, uncertain model parameters, and variable process parameters. In the former case, a process must be designed th

β¦ Synopsis
The strategy for optimal design of chemical processes involving parameter uncertainty is studied from the viewpoint of the statistical decision theory. A strategy which is more complicated but more suitable than those so far recommended by a few authors is proposed. It is also suggested that the design experiences become storable in a quantitative fashion by introducing the proposed method. _
