β¦ Synopsis
A new press mechanism with combined input is proposed in this paper. An ordinary motor supplies main power while a servomotor adjusts motion. A single-freedom linkage driven by a servomotor is not applied in a mechanical press needing big power because of high cost, but the advent of the mechanism with combined input solves the problem.
Studies on the inverse kinematic analysis and optimal synthesis of this mechanism open a way to the application of the mechanism with combined input in flexible manufacture and propose a the research direction of the mechanical press.

## Abstract In this paper, a concurrent design methodology to formulate the mechatronic design problem is presented. The methodology proposes to state the mechatronic design problem as a dynamic optimization problem. In order to explain the methodology, the concurrent design of pinionβrack continuo
