โฆ Synopsis
The problem of the optimal control that brings the state distribution from an initial state to a desired equilibrium condition for a system that describes the neutron dynamics is considered. A maximum principle is developed for the problem that facilitates the determination of the optimal control which minimizes a given performance index. The implementation of the theory is presented and the effectiveness of the control is investigated by a numerical example.

A class of optimal control problems for self-adjoint distributed-parameter systems is considered. An approach is proposed to damp the undesirable vibrations in the structures actively by means of pointwise controllers (actuators). Necessary conditions of optimality are derived as a set of independen
