We show that the condition of no faster-than-light signalling restricts the number of quantum states that can be cloned in Ε½ . a given Hilbert space. This condition leads to the constraints on a probabilistic quantum cloning machine PQCM recently found by Duan and Guo.

The __Chlamydomonas reinhardtii__ mutant __lrg2__ exhibits a partial defect in the blueβlight activated signal transduction chain that controls gametogenesis. By genomic complementation, a cosmid clone that corrects the __lrg2__ phenotype was isolated. The smallest fragment of this cosmid that gave
