✦ Synopsis


The birefringence (Y-B) of each optically anisotropic variety of C3A has been measured as a function of temperature in monochromatic light of different wavelengths. The orthorhombic phase remains structurally unchanged up to the decomposition temperature, and the orientation of the optic axial plane and dispersion of 2V x change during heating. The optic orientation and dispersion type of the monoclinic phase above the transition point indicate that this phase transforms reversibly into the orthorhombic phase.

Die Doppelbrechung (Y-B) jeder optisch anisotropen Variet~t von C3A ist als Funktion der Temperatur in monochromatischen Lichter yon verschiedenen Wellenl~ngen gemessen worden. Die rhombische Phase bleibt strukturell unver~ndert his zur Dekompositionstemperatur, und die Orientierung der optischen Achsenebene und Dispersion von 2V x ~ndern sich w~hrend Erhitzung. Die optiche Orientierung und Dispersionstype der monoklinischen Phase ~ber den Unwandlungspunkt zeigen, dass sich diese Phase reversibel in die rhombische Phase verwandelt.
