✦ Synopsis

The optically dctectcd acoustic paramqn& resonance ol the metastablc triplet state of 1.2,4,5-tetr3chlorobenzene (TCB) in zero field is reported. The spin-phonon interaction in molecular cryst& is discussed in terms or the direct process single phonon absorption by the paramagnetic spin system. It is estimated that in many molecular solids. suft' icient acoustic power densities may be produced to observe acoustic pammagnetic resonance by optical detection methods.
