✦ Synopsis
Dysprosium-doped heavy metal glasses and transparent glass-ceramics have been investigated using optical spectroscopy. Visible luminescence due to 4 F 9/2 -6 H J/2 (J = 11, 13, 15) transitions of Dy 3+ was registered. Based on excitation and emission spectra as well as luminescence decay analysis, some spectroscopic parameters for Dy 3+ ions in glass samples before and after annealing were determined. Especially, the yellow-to-blue luminescence intensity ratios Y/B corresponding to the 4 F 9/2 -6 H 15/2 and 4 F 9/2 -6 H 13/2 transitions of Dy 3+ ions were analyzed as a function of glass host composition and thermal treatment.
