✦ Synopsis

Specimens were embedded in Spurr's resin and sectioned with an Ultramicrotome (Leica Ultracut). Transverse sections of colloid-filled membranes with thicknesses ranging from 40 to 100 nm were obtained. Images of sections were acquired by JEM 2000FX, Philips CM 120 BioTWIN cryo, and Philips FEG CM 200 microscopes.
