Abstract
Calculations are made of optical absorption spectra for the following inhomogeneous colloidal centers of sodium in NaCl: for metallic particles of sodium; particles with oxidized shell; particles with a dielectric unrelaxed shell, as well as the shell in the form of a transitional layer with a low concentration of free electrons acting in plasma oscillations, etc. The experimental observations of the position of the maximum of the absorption band enable the identification of a number of the models studied in irradiated as well as in additively coloured NaCl crystals.
