## Abstract The complex coordinate method is applied to the predissociation resonances of twoβstate model system. The stability of the resonance positions and their widths, as well as the affect of using real and complex basis sets are studied.
Using the cornpIe.\ coordinate method, a new hermirean hamiltonian is formulated, in which the resonance position and aidth are the "natural" perturbation strength parameters. If the resonance position is known the resonance width obtained by the presented theory is a lower bound to the e?tact value
## A new xariationn: technique is intruduced for approximating solutions of the rctxted wave equation xxhich forms the basis of the complex-coordinate method of calculating electron-atom sc;tittdng resonances.
