โฆ Synopsis
We incorporate the quantum dot picture into analysis of light-matter coupling in GaN microcavities with InGaN quantum wells. We investigate quantitatively the transition from weak to strong coupling regime with the variation of the in-plane density of quantum dots, radiative recombination time of the carriers trapped in a single dot and inhomogeneous broadening of the localisedexciton transition. We model a non-linear behaviour of optical properties of a nitride-based microcavity with layers containing quantum dots. Reflection-transmission-absorption spectra for different carrier densities are calculated. Transition from the strong coupling to the lasing regime with increasing pumping intensity is predicted for high finesse microcavity structures.
