✦ Synopsis

Optical millimeter mm -wa¨e signal generation using a ( ) multisection DFB distributed feedback laser diode is proposed, and is demonstrated theoretically using an impro¨ed time-domain large-signal model. It is shown that optical mm-wa¨e oscillation of the de¨ice is due to mode beating, and the 83 GHz optical signal can be generated by controlling the injection currents separati¨ely.
