✦ Synopsis
By means of very sensitive measurements of the absorption of light by photographic emulsions the latent image was studied down to the range of normal exposures.
It is shown, that the latent image and the print-out effect are due to the same process and differ merely quantitatively.
The assumption that the latent image consists of silver is corroborated. Spectral absorption-measurements show that a considerable difference exists between the latent image in photographic emulsions and the silver image in AgBr crystals as studied by H i 1 s c h and P o h 1.
Further the regression-theory of solarization is rejected and an ,,auto-B e c q u e r e 1"-effect is described.
