✦ Synopsis


The optical band shape for the At? -Eu transitian in D4h symmetry has been caIcuIated quantum mechanicaily. it is shown that the band shape for modcrateiy strong coupling with two vibrational modes has a doubly peaked structure even if the two coupling constants are different and the two vibrations have difikent frequencies. The caiculation is compared with experiment and qualitative agreement is found.
