โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The reflectivity of ZnO single crystals was measured at near normal incidence in the energy region from 3 to 25 eV with linearly polarized light, the electric field vector lying perpendicular and parallel to the cโ€axis. From the reflectivity the optical constants n and k, the complex dielectric constant ฮต = ฮต~1~ ฮต i ฮต~2~ and the energy loss function L = |Im ฮต^โˆ’1^| have been computed by a Kramersโ€Kronig analysis for both directions of polarization. The profiles of the spectra differ completely from those of other IIโ€“VI compounds of the wurtzite structure. The energetic positions and the polarization dependence of the peaks in the reflectivity and the ฮต~2~ spectra can be related to the results of the first complete band structure calculation accomplished by Rรถssler using the Korringaโ€Kohnโ€Rostocker method.

Reflectance spectra in the photon energy range between 15 and 150eV were measured on zinc telluride single crystals by using synchrotron radiation. A peak associated with transitions from the 3d core level of Zn to the conduction band was observed. A sharp doublet related to the 4d of Te was also ob

## Abstract Reflectance measurements are used to calculate the ordinary and extraordinary optical constants of an anisotropic MgFz crystal in the energy range 11 to 28 eV. Partially linearly polarized light is used and a method of least squares is employed to compute the results. An excitonic split
