Abstract

The intensities of the electric dipole transitions within the 4f^10^ configuration of Ho^3+^ in YPO~4~ have been measured. They can be described with the Judd‐Ofelt theory. The fitted parameters show that the configuration 4f^10^ interacts stronger with the configurations __n__d^9^4f^11^ (n = 3, 4) than with the configurations 4f^9^__n__d (n β‰₯ 5). The total interactions with g‐electrons and with d‐electrons are of the same order.
