β¦ Synopsis
X-traps in anthracene crystal (host) induced by pyrenc and 2-hydroxyanthracene as impurities,(yests) have been measured in absorption. 'Ihe pyrene X-trap is already well known in fluorescence; the absorption m~surements show that the concentrations of X-traps and of the pyrcne 'de equal to within an order of magnitude. ihe 2hq'droxyanthracene induced 'X-trap, not hitherto observed, gives a strong absorption, at 24988 cm -r (vat.
). An extremely weak fluorescence line, almost totaly quenched, has now been found at 24986 cm -'. The trap concenkation k a@o of the same order as that of the inducing impurity.
