Introduction: Non invasive facial rejuvenation has gained popularity because it provides results safely and without significant downtime. Carbon dioxide insufflation has been shown to increase cutaneous circulation. Methods: The authors will describe this novel treatment for facial rejuvenation with

โฆ Synopsis
Background and Objectives: To evaluate acute effects of diode laser (980 nm) on retina and choroid and to compare these effects with the effects of frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) on same eye structures. Study Design/Materials and Methods: Freshly enucleated pig's eyes were treated with both lasers, diode laser (980 nm) and frequency doubled Nd:YAG (532 nm), using different parameters (power and duration of single laser pulse). Histological examination on treated eyes was done after photocoagulation. Specimens were routinely processed, slides were stained with hematoxylin and eozin. Results: All specimens, regardless of the type of laser showed coagulation necrosis of the choroid which, depending on power and duration of laser single pulse, extended into the sclera. Mild changes in photoreceptor layer (slightly increased eosinophilia) and outer nuclear layer (slightly condensed nuclear chromatin) of retina were noted. In some cases, there was a separation between Bruch's membrane and retinal pigment epithelium. Conclusions: Histopathologically, acute effects on the retina and choroid caused by diode laser (980 nm) and frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) were similar. This preliminary study showed that diode laser (980 nm) may be effective in treating retinal diseases.
