โœฆ Synopsis

In the inplaneswitching (IPS) mode an electric field is applied to the liquid crystals along the direction which ls parallel to the plane of the substrates with interdigital electrodes. We calculated: _ electric field profile for interdigital electrode configuration; -threshold value of the operating voltage under the assumption of strong director anchoring.

The threshold voltage crucially depends on the ratio between cell thickness, electrode gap and electrode width.
