an Open Day at the company plant in Cockermouth, Cumbria, UK.
Attractions included the local Brass Band, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue, M-Sport rally car, a range of entertainment for children, food and factory tours. The event celebrated the anniversary of the start of the company by a Scottish engineer, James Walker, near Tower Bridge in London. He developed Lion Brand High Pressure Steam Packing which helped ensure the success of the new generation of high-efficiency steam engines that powered mankind into the 20th century and set his company on the path to a future in materials technology and fluid sealing. The company is now a global manufacturer and distributor with a group turnover of £125 million.
