✦ Synopsis

The system has a number of advantages over the conventional paper-based or e-mail attachment system approach. Authors can submit manuscripts electronically and can monitor their progress.

Authors prepare their text and illustrations in the usual way using their usual software. Then, instead of attaching them to an email, authors go to the ''Submit manuscript'' part of The Journal of Gene Medicine/Manuscript Central website where a simple step-by-step process guides authors through uploading the text, illustration files and cover letter with full instructions. The online submission process can be stopped and saved at any time before submission and resumed later. The system is easy to use, robust and secure. Reviewers can view the manuscript directly from the website, print it if preferred, and submit their comments online.
