✦ Synopsis

The role of trap efficiency in one-dimensional incoherent exciton migration is modelled. In the experimental systems that we simulate, a typical exciton hops lo* to lo9 times on the time scale of interest. We model this as a continuous diffusion process with appropriate boundary conditions. A Monte Carlo average over a random distribution of chain lengths is performed. The results demonstrate that traps that are quite inefficient as judged from the relative rates of hopping and trapping can yield decay curves which are indistinguishable from the perfectly efftcient results, depending on the trap concentration. The results are explained through use of scaling arguments.
