✦ Synopsis

Several methods of testing general one-sample and two-sample hypotheses of Kendall's r are diecussed. The performance of these procedures in typical situations likely to occur in practioe was investigated by numerou8 Monte Carlo experimenfa The common one-sample feet (610 : T = 0) based on the permutational variance performs very similar t o bootatrap or jackknife testing for true T near zero. For true Irl perhape greater than 0.4 and moderate ample sizes bootatrap techniquee are the metbode of choice.

A series of papers by FIELLER, PEARSON el al. Under the assumption of bivariate normal samples, empirical results on the means and variance

In a recent paper Ro È hmel and Mansmann (1999) discussed p-values for unconditional two-sample binomial tests of the one-sided type. Since uniformly smallest p-values do not exist, they considered undominated or, in their notation, acceptable p-values. Ro Èhmel and Mansmann showed that any pvalue i

In epidemiological prospective cohort studies, exposure levels of cases with disease and disease-free control subjects can be measured by laboratory analysis of previously stored biological specimens. In such studies, a sequential t-test can be used for preliminary evaluations, at the expense of the
