We first recall the concept of Z-numbers introduced by Zadeh. These objects consist of an ordered pair (A, B) of fuzzy numbers. We then use these Z-numbers to provide information about an uncertain variable V in the form of a Z-valuation, which expresses the knowledge that the probability that V is

β¦ Synopsis
Sulmnary--This paper discusses the basic relations of Zadeh's block-diagram algebra for linear time-varying systems. It is shown that the well-known equation of Zadeh for the overall system function for two seriesconnected systems is incorrect. The problems of obtaining Zadeh's system function for series and feedback connections are considered. The relations between the overall system function and the individual system functions are established.

Two actions of the Hecke algebra of type A on the corresponding polynomial ring are studied. Both are deformations of the natural action of the symmetric group on polynomials, and keep symmetric functions invariant. We give an explicit description of these actions, and deduce a combinatorial formula
