✦ Synopsis

In this paper we consider Vlasov's equation with an exterior magnetic field. By using the mollification of the Coulomb potential introduced by Batt, classical solutions are established. Furthermore, we study the effect of the exterior magnetic field on the solution. Choosing axially symmetric initial conditions we obtain solutions describing the confinement of an electron gas in a cylinder of infinite axial extent.
