β¦ Synopsis
If Ο F r β GL n K is a representation of a finitely generated free group F r , and Ο a m = I for each basic element (i.e., element which occurs in some basis) a, then we show that if Ο F r is triangularisable, it is finite. This can be thought of as a generalisation of the Burnside problem for these linear groups.

We present an algorithm that computes an unmixed-dimensional decomposition of an arbitrary algebraic variety \(V\). Each \(V_{i}\) in the decomposition \(V=V_{1} \cup \ldots \cup V_{m}\) is given by a finite set of polynomials which represents the generic points of the irreducible components of \(V_
