## Abstract We consider the dynamical oneโdimensional MindlinโTimoshenko model for beams. We study the existence of solutions for a contact problem associated with the MindlinโTimoshenko system. We also analyze how its energy decays exponentially to zero as time goes to infinity. Copyright ยฉ 2008 J
