โœฆ Synopsis

This paper is concerned with the information introduced by measured zeros from frequency response functions and its application to model assessment and updating. It is demonstrated that the sensitivities of the zeros can be expressed as a linear combination of the sensitivities of the eigenvalues (natural frequencies) and mode shapes. The sensitivities of the closest eigenvalues and mode shapes are shown to contribute most to the sensitivities of the zeros in a numerical exercise.

Applying windows to experimental data is a common practice in modal testing to minimise the effects of leakage, and the exponential window is used for the transient signals measured with impact testing and burst random excitation. Used properly, the exponential can minimise leakage errors on lightly

The exact reanalysis of a structure is time consuming and when repeated reanalyses are needed, it is often preferable to use an approximate Ritz technique. This approximate method consists in expressing the new frequency response function as a linear combination of vectors in a truncated modal basis

A general construction for supersymmetric Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics is given. It is found that N-extended supersymmetry imposes very strong constraints, and for N > 4 the Hamiltonian is integrable. The objectives of this article are (1) to help reestablish in technical thinking the three spectral sensitivity curves, dating from Helmholtz, of the normal human visual system (particularly their peak wavelengths); (2) to remind the reader of the principles of the sets of three color-matching funct
