Abstract

The windows in the absorption spectrum of a harmonic oscillator coupled to a bath can be given a two‐parameter form identical to the Fano windows in the absorption cross section of an atom with an autoionizing state.

In this paper we investigate the axisymmetric harmonic torsional vibrations of a rigid spherical inclusion, embedded centrally in an elastic stratum of finite thickness. For an infinite solid the problem has a simple closed form solution. Here the stratum problem is formulated as a Fredholm integral
