The scattering of the sound of a jet engine by an airplane fuselage is modelled by solving the axially symmetric Helmholtz equation exterior to a long thin ellipsoid. The integral equation method based on the single layer potential formulation is used. A family of coordinate systems on the body is i

Abstract
A primitive equation system using pressure as the vertical coordinate has been derived, and this system has been applied to modelling both deep and shallow convetion. It has been demostrated that this system, including suitable boundary conditions, filters out the acoustic mode entirely. There exist certain advantage due to having gridpoints at constant pressure.

The paper deals with the "nite element method (FEM) solution of the problem with loads moving uniformly along an in"nite Euler beam supported by a linear elastic Kelvin foundation with linear viscous damping. Initially, the problem is formulated in a moving co-ordinate system following the load usin
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the fundamental differences between the degenerate plate element formulations [1-3] and the plate and shell formulations obtained using the absolute nodal co-ordinate formulation introduced for the large rotation and deformation analysis of flexible bodies [4]
Finite element methods are used extensively to study the behaviour of complex structures [1,2]. When several finite elements must be considered to model a structure due to spatial variations in its properties, the number of nodal co-ordinates becomes very large and the eigenvalue problem becomes ver
