In this Letter a new moment method using orthogonal wavelets on the internal as basis functions is presented. By using this method, the integral equation under study is converted into a sparse matrix equatwn, which albws rapid solution using sparse matrix solvers and/or multip'd iterations. This method circumvents the difficulties in the application of the wavelets on the real line to finite-internal problems and has no periodic* constraint to the unknown function that is usually imposed by periodic wavelets. 8 19% John
