Abstract

This paper presents theoretical foundations for the description of preferences in multiple criteria decision analysis models using quantitative estimates of the relative importance of criteria. It is assumed that not only the values of criteria but also the differences of such values are ordered according to the preference of the decision maker. Simple decision rules that define the preference and indifference relations induced by the information about the quantitative importance of such criteria are developed.
