Abstract

A procedure to deal with various boundary conditions in the Rayleighโ€Ritz method is discussed herein, namely, the method of artificial parameters. The method is then applied to solve a simple string problem; results obtained compare very nicely with exact solutions.

The numerical simulation for the exterior problem of Poisson equation is considered. We introduced a polygonal artiยฎcial boundary C e and designed a discrete artiยฎcial boundary condition on it by using the direct method of lines. Then the original problem is reduced to a boundary value problem deยฎne
