The spatial modulation is not normally observed in images or profiles obtained using Hahn or stimulated echoes, but may cause errors if the sample structure varies on the distance scale of the modulation

The quadrupolar and dipolar interactions of spins during the radio frequency (RF) pulses are considered. It is shown that due to these interactions the two-pulse echo signal is observed at the shifted time t, = T + t,/2 (t, = width of the first RF pulse, 7 = time interval between the pulses).
