The vapor pressures of selenium in alloys of the composition range Co&-Co%,.,, have boon studied by the dew point method to contribute to the thermodynamics of this system and so to test the reported continuous transition of the monoselenide (Co%) to the diselenide (Co&,) by continuous introduction of vacancies in the metal-ion sublattice.

The phase transformation from the monoselenide to the diselenide has been shown t,o be of the first order. Both the Co-Se and Co-Te systems exhibit extreme negative deviation from Reoult's law in the composit.ion ranges CoSe-Co&, and CoTe-CoTe, respectively. Selenium coexisting with cobalt seienidc (CoSe,.,) exists primarily as a monatomic gas at one atmosphere pressure.

Qualit.ative thermoelect.rie power measurements were made on the alloys in the composition range &Se-CoSe,.,, as well as the mono and ditellurides of cobalt.

All of the Co-Se and Co-Te alloys investigated proved to be n-type semiconductors. SUR LA THERMODYNAMIQUE DE SYSTEME COBALT-SELENIUM Les auteurs ont Btudie la pression de vapeur du selenium dans des alliages couvrant la gamme de compositions COS~--COS~~.~~, a l'aide de la methode du point de resee, dans le but d'apporter une oontribution a la thermodynamique de ce systeme, et de controler ainsi s'il existe bien une transition continue du rnonoseleniure (C&e) ou dis&niure-(CoSe,) par introduction continue de lacunes dans Ie sous-r&au m&al-ion. On a montre que la transformation de phase du monos&niure ou dis&niure est do premier ordre. Les systemes Co-Se et Co-Te momrent l'un et l'autre une t&s grande deviation negative par rapport B la loi de Ra,oult tlans les domaines de composition CoSo-CoSe, et CoTe-CoTe, respectivement. Le selenium coexistant, avec le &l&me de cobalt (CoSel.o) exist,e principalement a l'etat de gaz monoat#omique a la pression atmospherique. Des mesures thermoelectriques qualitatives ont ete executees sur les alliages sit&s dans la gamme de compositions CO&-CoSee.*s, de m&ne quo sur les mono et ditelluriures de cobalt. Tous 10s alliages C-Se et Co-Te experiment& Btaient des semi-conducteurs de type 1~. ZUR THERMODYNAMIK DE SYSTEM KOBALT-SELEN Als Beitrag zur 'rhermodynamik des Systems Kobalt-Selen wurde mittels der Taupunkt,methode der Dampfdrn~k von Selen in Legierungen der Zusammensetzung CoSe-CoSez.rs untersucht. Das Ziel war eine Naehpriifung des in Ver~ffentlichun~en mitgeteilten stetigen Ubergangs vom Monoselenid (Co&) zum Diselenid (CO%,) auf dem Wege stetig variicrenden Einbaus van Leerstellen in das Teilgitter der Metallionen. Die Phasenumwandlung vom Mono-eum Diselenid ist, wie gezeigt wird, von erster Ordnung. Die Systeme Co-Se mid Co-Te zeigen im Bereich der Zusammensetzungen CoSe-CoSe, bzw. CoTe-CoTe, extreme negative Abweiohungen vom Gesetz van Raoult. Bei gleichzeitigem Auftreten neben Kobaltsclenid (CoSe,.g) stellt. Selen bei Atmospharendruck ein einatomigos Gas dar. Qualitative Messungen der Thermokraft wurden an den Legierungen der Zusammensetzung CoSe-CoSez.48 sowie am Monound Ditellurid des Kobalts ausgefiihrt. All cuntersuehten Co-Se-und Co-Te-Lepierungen waren ?+Halbleiter.
