Measurements of magnetic field components Bx,B ,B , produced by both shielding and transport currents in BS~CO~Ag tapes are presented. The measured sample BSCCO 2223 was prepared by the powder in tube technique and t~e se~f field critical current densities were of the order of 10 ~ A/cm ~ at 77 K. T

The hysteresis loss in a cylindrical hard superconductor is investigated theoretically adopting the critical state model for the case that an alternating field is applied transverse to the conductor carrying a d.c. transport current. The shape of the cross-section of the shielded region in the super

The dynamics of the normal zone initiated by a local heat pulse in a superconductor carrying a transport current is studied theoretically. An approximate method is considered, from which analytical formulae are obtained for the minimum heat pulse energy EC required to destroy the superconductivity.
